Pseudorational Behaviors and Bezoutians

چکیده
Behavioral system theory has been successful in providing a viewpoint that does not depend on a priori notions of inputs/outputs. While there are some attempts to extend this theory to infinite-dimensional systems, for example, delay systems, the overall picture seems to remain still incomplete. The first author has studied a class of infinite-dimensional systems called pseudorational. This class allows a compact fractional representation for systems having bounded-time memory. It is particularly appropriate for extending the behavioral framework to infinite-dimensional context. We have recently studied several attempts to extend this framework to a behavioral context. Among them are characterizations of behavioral controllability, particularly involving a coprimeness condition over an algebra of distributions, and some stability tests involving Lyapunov functions derived from Bézoutians. This article gives a brief overview of pseudorational transfer functions, controllability issues and related criteria, path integrals, and finally the connection with Lyapunov functions derived from Bézoutians.

More on polynomial Bezoutians with respect to a general basis
We use unified algebraic methods to investigate the properties of polynomial Bezoutians with respect to a general basis. Not only can three known results be easily verified, but also some new properties of polynomial Bezoutians are obtained. Nonsymmetric Lyapunov-type equations of polynomial Bezoutians are also discussed. It turns out that most properties of classical Bezoutians can be analogou...

متن کاملKharitonov’s theorem and Hermite’s criterion
In this correspondence we answer a question posed in [WT99] and provide an elementary proof of the Kharitonov theorem deducing it from the classical Hermite criterion. The proof is based on the concept of a Bezoutian matrix. Generally, exploiting the special structure of such matrices (e.g., Bezoutians, Toeplitz, Hankel or Vandermonde matrices, etc.) can be interesting, e.g., leading to unified...
متن کاملCoprimeness Conditions For Pseudorational Transfer Functions
Coprimeness conditions play important roles in various aspects of system/control theory: realization, controllability, stabilization, just to name a few. While the issue is now well understood for finite-dimensional systems, it is far from being settled for infinite-dimensional systems. This is due to a wide variety of situations in which this issue occurs, and several variants of coprimeness n...
